Started by a group of breast cancer survivors in the metro Atlanta area, the Steel Magnolias reach out to both survivors and supporters who want to enjoy the health benefits of the sport, being on the water and the camaraderie of a team.

A welcoming group that make you feel like part of the team from day one. Whether you are familiar with watersports or new to it, you will leave feeling invigorated, inspired and at peace. The Dragon Boat can be a 10 or 20 seat boat with a dragon head  and a drummer at the front and at the back a steer person who makes sure the boat stays on course. The two paddlers up front are the strokes – your guide to follow the rhythm and tempo of the boat to ensure everyone has the same timing to move the boat forward. We have a great coach and team that will make you feel right at home. You will not notice you have been out on the water for more than an hour nor that you have had a great upper body workout!

Dragon Boat Atlanta is a breast cancer awareness team made up of breast cancer survivors and supporters of  all ages (20's- 70's) male and female.  The team was founded in 2004 and incorporated in May, 2011 as a 501(c)3. The members travel from throughout the metro Atlanta area to practice at the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club.  Weather permitting, we practice on Saturday mornings at 8:30 am.

Dragon Boat Atlanta has participated in dragon boat festivals throughout the southeast and internationally.
